Wakefield Methodist J, I & N School Safeguarding Statement
The Government paper "Keeping Children Safe in Education” (2020/2021) states that:
'Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all practitioners should make sure their approach is child-centered. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.’
Wakefield Methodist J, I & N School is committed to its legal and moral duty to promote the well-being of children, protect them from harm and ensure their wellbeing, and expects the whole school community to share in this commitment.
Everyone employed at Wakefield Methodist J,I & N School has a responsibility in terms of child protection and we understand that every child has the right to feel safe and protected at all times and in any situation. We accept that we have a primary responsibility for the care, welfare and safety of the pupils in our charge, and we will carry out this duty through our teaching and learning, extracurricular activities, pastoral care and extended activities.
We hope that both parents and children will feel free to talk about any concerns and will see school as a safe place to discuss any difficulties. With this in mind, Mrs D Clark is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and should you have any concerns regarding the safety of any child in school please don’t hesitate to contact her on 01924 204940
